On July 7, 2017, KSG Agro Agricultural Holding Company arranged a press tour to Solonianskyi district of Dnipropetrovsk region, to one of the leading enterprises of the holding, namely KSG Dnepr. During the event, journalists learned about the development of the plant’s crop sector, the newest innovative biological products replacing nitrogen fertilizers, and visited the biofuel boiler house and got acquainted with modern agricultural technology.
The press tour was attended by more than 10 leading journalists of Ukrainian mass media working on agrarian topics. They included representatives of Ukrinform and Ukrainian news agencies, Farmer, APK-Inform:results magazines, Agrotimes, APK-Inform, Agroexpert, Agroportal, Agravery, ProAgro prtals, Vesti Pridneprovya newspaper, etc.
“By holding a press tour, we once again demonstrate the importance of an open and transparent dialogue with mass media, which we have been professing since the very beginning of the existence of the agricultural holding company,” Serhii Mazin, the CEO of KSG Agro, said. “We are grateful to the mass media representatives for objective coverage of our company’s activities.”
During the press tour, Serhii Mazin told journalists about his intentions to use biological products by TerraMax (USA) by the agricultural holding company.
The journalists visited the fields of wheat, sunflower, corn, got acquainted with modern agricultural machinery by John Dear and New Holland used by the agricultural holding company, saw the first harvested crop on the thrashing-floor, and also took part in the cultivation of the field for sowing winter crops.
The story told by agrarians about the use of biofuel appeared also to be interesting and informative. The representatives of the mass media visited the shop for the production of fuel pellets, which is being built in the village of Novopokrovka, with a capacity of up to 2 thousand tons per year.
The journalists visited the boiler house operating on pellets at the school in Novopokrovka village. According to Oleksandr Skyba, the Head of the Novopokrovka Village Council, the boiler house allowed to save about UAH 300 thousand during the previous heating season.
The finale of the press tour was a visit to farmland sown with miscanthus (silver-grass) made by the journalists. According to Serhii Mazin, this hardy and perennial plant with the possibility of annual biomass harvesting will be used as an important renewable energy source.
