KSG Agro Agroholding and the MAYBUTNIE (“Future”) Charitable Foundation delivered to Ukraine three tons of humanitarian medical cargo including orthopedic equipment and medicine from Germany. This was reported by the press service of the agricultural holding.
KSG Agro Agricultural Holding and Sergiy Kasianov’s Maybutnie (“Future”) Charitable Foundation ensured the delivery of humanitarian medical cargo weighing three tons from Germany to Ukraine. The cargo includes everything necessary for the treatment of wounded Ukrainian servicemen who demonstrate miracles of courage on the fronts of battles with the Russian occupiers.
“A three-ton cargo of the most necessary and very important medical equipment for the treatment of our fighters with limb injuries has been delivered to Ukraine. The total cost of orthopedic materials and prostheses is about 300 thousand euros. These are medicines, bandages, external fixation devices of various modifications. And there are carts, crutches, orthopedic kits, hundreds of products collected for our country by German universities, hospitals, pharmacies and insurance companies,” said Oleksandr Loskutov, head of the Ukrainian-German Association of Orthopedic Traumatologists.
Orthopedic kits and medicines will soon be sent to the Dnipro Military Hospital, the Mechnikov Dnipro Regional Clinical Hospital, city clinical hospital №2 of Kryvyi Rih and to the Mykolayiv hospitals.
All expenses, logistical and organizational support of cargo delivery to Dnipropetrovsk region were borne by KSG Agro and Charitable Foundation.

Today, many people and companies in Europe offer various types of assistance to Ukraine. We are actively involved in the dialogue with them, we have constant contacts with the Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland, the Consulate in Milan and other diplomatic missions. Therefore, this humanitarian aid is not the last, and we will continue to help our country receive humanitarian and medical cargo from different parts of Europe and the world.”

KSG Agro has secured additional funds for the sowing campaign from its long-term financial partner – Taskombank. The funds in the amount on UAH 40 mln (equivalent of USD 1,33 mln) has already been dispatched by the bank, and are being utilized. All major inputs for the sowing campaign had been already secured.
KSG Agro had been supported by Taskombank in those difficult days, adding more security to the sowing campaign dynamics. As of today, all major items required for the campaign had been procured, including diesel required for the full area of the land bank to be sowed. Moreover, more financing may be granted going forward, of which KSG Agro shall be reporting in due course

The farms that are part of KSG Agro agricultural holding are actively completing preparations for the spring sowing campaign. The holding is provided with fuel, seeds, and is completing the formation of a reserve of plant protection products. “Currently, the process of selecting seeds, plant protection products, and fertilizers is underway. The problem is not only to find, but also to deliver products from warehouses, where it is possible to do this under the current conditions. We are succeeding in this: we have finished contracting, we have fully supplied corn seeds, and in the near future we will complete the supply of sunflower seeds, and we will also import plant protection products. We are in full, and even with a margin for harvesting, provided with fuel. Everything is going according to our plan and in general the situation on the holding’s farms looks normal and good. Technically and agronomically, we are fully prepared for the sowing season,” says Dmitry Yemelchenko.
At present, the holding’s farms have completed the process of feeding winter crops on an area of 5.5 thousand hectares, as well as rapeseed on an area of 800 hectares. The plants are in good condition, they are actively developing and growing rapidly.
KSG Agro is not going to make adjustments to the planned crop structure: 60% grain crops (wheat, barley, rapeseed) and 40% spring crops (sunflower and corn). “Of course, we had discussions that, due to the decrease in the export potential of sunflower, we should place more emphasis on grain crops, which are more in demand within the country. However, agronomically, this is wrong and we are maintaining the current crop rotation,” emphasized the holding’s production director.
The farmer described the situation with moisture reserves in the soil as a difficult one. “In the meter layer in the southern part of the region, we have 125 mm, and in the Dnipro regions it is 150 mm, which is lower than the optimal value of 200 mm. However, there is still a month before the sowing campaign and we hope that the moisture will increase and the situation will change for the better,” he concluded.

In this regard, with the support of the Association of Pig Farmers of Ukraine (ACU) through the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, the holding submitted to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy lists of employees of the pig farm, which will be given exemption from mobilization.
“Our staff works under very difficult conditions, doing their best to produce food that is vital for the people of Ukraine and its army,” said Sergiy Kasianov, Chairman of the Board of Directors at KSG Agro. ” The activities of the holding are strategically important from the point of view of food security of the country, so our front is labor and we see our task in the coordinated work of the team. Since February 24, the company has supplied about 500 tons of pork. After the start of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, all of the holding’s employees received additional motivation in the form of a twofold increase in wages during the war. In addition, they were paid double the advance and provided food for the people. If before the war, employees paid 50% for lunches in the canteen of the pig farm, now they are completely free for them.
“All employees are provided with food rations, which, in particular, include 3 kg of pork. For those who need official housing, apartments are additionally rented at the location of the pig farm at the holding’s expense. To ensure the leisure of the children of the pig farm staff, an “own” kindergarten was opened in the administrative building so that mothers would not have to worry about their children. And three bomb shelters were equipped at the location of the enterprise,” Sergiy Kasianov added. In order to strengthen the security of the pig farm, protection is organized by the defense forces, who receive our support and regular meals. Furthermore, additional checkpoints have been set up to protect both the pig farm and the settlement in which it is located.

Starting from February 24, the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Strong-Trade, a member of KSG Agro, has been working in an intensified mode. Due to the fact that the location of the pig farm and processing facilities of the holding is not in the combat zone, the company continues to process meat, sending it to the army and to trade networks.
“I would like to sincerely thank our key employees, they continue to work even when the sirens are blowing. Our grandfathers, who fought during the Second World War, used to say, everything is for the front, everything for the victory. And we have such a situation. I would never have thought that we would repeat this in the 21st century, ”said Ihor Nedybalyuk, the company’s executive director.
Since the start of the war, Strong Trade has processed about 100,000 kilograms of meat. At present, 10,000 kilograms of pork have been sent to the needs of the Armed Forces and to hospitals. “Agroholding is ready to supply pork to the military and hospitals in the amount of 5 tons per week, contributing to the defense of Ukraine,” – said the chairman of the Board of Directors at KSG Agro Sergiy Kasianov.
Agroholding also continues the practice of providing food kits to socially vulnerable groups, as well as families of defenders of Ukraine who are fighting at the front. The Sergiy Kasyanov Charitable Foundation “Future” has already distributed about 400 food kits at the location of the pig farm, each including 3 kilograms of pork. First of all, the products were received by families of defenders of Ukraine, large families, and retirees. How does Ukrainian business react to the threat of a military invasion from Russia? This question has been frequently asked to me by our European and American partners since 2014. However, the latest events around Donbass require that you get an answer to it, as they say, first-hand. There has been a lot of information about this in the media lately. Unfortunately, it contains a lot of inaccuracies. Therefore, using the example of KSG Agro agricultural holding and confirmed European data, I would like to show how the real Ukrainian environment reacts to possible risks associated with Russian aggression.

The geopolitical situation around Ukraine remains difficult. The threat of invasion from Russia has a negative impact on the macroeconomic indicators of the country. The recent decision of the government of the Russian Federation to include the occupied territories of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions into its structure also does not add optimism. However, I will take the liberty and on behalf of the entire Ukrainian business I want to state the following: the aggressive policy of Russia and other challenges have never been considered by serious Ukrainian companies as a reason to curtail economic activity.
Since 2014, businessmen in Ukraine have demonstrated the effectiveness of their adaptive strategies. To the full extent, this also applies to our company KSG Agro. We have learned not only to survive, but also to show dynamic growth in the face of growing uncertainty, economic and political crises, the threat of a Russian invasion and the coronovirus epidemic. And this is by no means my subjective opinion, but the general state of the Ukrainian business environment. In particular, it is confirmed by Deloitte. Despite COVID-19 and the conflict in Donbas, the last six years have been the longest period of relatively stable growth in the history of independent Ukraine. For my part, I can confirm that the results of the work of our agricultural holding really confirm Deloitte’s data.

EBA includes dozens of both Ukrainian and major Western companies that have been operating on the Ukrainian market for a long time. According to the survey, only 7% of them believe that external aggression can lead to the closure of their business. 45% of the surveyed companies will continue to operate on the territory of Ukraine even in the event of an invasion by the Russian Federation. 17% are considering moving to the western regions, and another 10% consider doing so in the worst case scenario. Possible business relocation may be necessary only for those companies that operate directly near the conflict zone. There are actually very few of them.
If we talk about KSG Agro, our entire production and raw material base is located far beyond from the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, i.e. outside the zone of not only the current, but also the potential conflict. All state institutions, enterprises and offices of the Prydniprovsky region and the Dnipropetrovsk region work as usual. Including hundreds of our employees – machine operators, pig breeders, veterinarians, drivers, agronomists – all who make up the staff of our agricultural holding. Every day, products are shipped to foreign markets and the largest retail chains of Ukraine – Silpo, Varus, etc.
KSG Agro takes care of the safety of personnel and the safety of all business processes on a permanent basis, for many years this has been an important part of our corporate strategy. Stable, mainly on its own raw materials, a feed mill operates, providing the maintenance of 52 thousand heads of pig herd. Export shipments of grains, flour and sunflower oil continue through the Black Sea ports to Africa and the Middle East through our Swiss company, a trading company Abbondanza SA.
Moreover, KSG Agro not only does not reduce, but also continues to increase the investments provided for by the development strategy. The total amount of investments planned for the current year is about UAH 15 million plus the equipment of the German company Big Dutchman, purchased by us earlier. Today, we have also completed the development of a pilot project for land irrigation for corn and hold a tender for the purchase of equipment. The project will be implemented this spring.
The margin of stability obtained by KSG Agro due to a 75% increase in the grain and oilseeds crop last year allows the holding to look into the future with confidence. Same is true for the economy of Ukraine as a whole. Thus, according to the data of the National Bank of Ukraine, the net inflow of foreign direct investment in Ukraine in 2021 reached $6.0 billion. For comparison, the net outflow of investments in 2020 amounted to $58 million. According to the National Bank, the inflow in 2021 was formed mainly for income reinvestment account in the amount of $4.2 billion, while in 2020 investors, on the contrary, withdrew income in the amount of $488 million. These income reinvestment figures also include the share of our agricultural holding.
The absence of any panic is also demonstrated by the recently opened land market in Ukraine. Thus, in Ukraine for the week of February 11-18, 4.35 thousand land transactions for agricultural plots were carried out, which corresponds to the indicators of the week before last (4.44 thousand transactions), and in terms of the total area of sold land plots it exceeds it by 2%.
Despite the intensity of passions in the information space, seasonal agricultural work, production, logistics – everything is working steadily as planned. Me, my family, children – we are all at work – at our enterprises located in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This year we are preparing to celebrate extensively the twentieth anniversary of founding KSG Agro. We have something to be proud of, we survived the difficult years of 2014-2015 and became one of the industry leaders in Ukraine. Today we are much stronger, more experienced and more self-confident.
And today, at a meeting of the Board of Directors, we made a decision to revise our strategic options aimed at enhancing the development of our business. All this gives me every reason to assert that our company will be able to successfully overcome all the challenges of the external environment in the future. Including the negative consequences of information wars, to which Ukrainian business has become accustomed to over the past 8 years of the conflict in the east of the country and has developed a certain immunity.

In 2022, KSG Agro will invest UAH 15 million in the reconstruction of the pig farm. This was reported by the press service of the agricultural holding.
In the first half of 2022, KSG Agro will reconstruct the fattening building at the pig farm in the village of Niva Trudova (Apostolov district, Dnipropetrovsk region) for 2 thousand square meters.
“Our key task is to increase the number and quality of pigs,” said Vasyl Starobor, director of Strong-Invest, responsible for the development of the pig farm. “Reconstruction will increase the number of fattening places by 10%”.
At present, the pig farm contains 52.5 thousand pigs at a time. After the reconstruction, their number will increase by 2.5 thousand and will reach one-time maintenance about 55 thousand, to increase sales of pigs by 7% per year.
“Reconstruction of the fattening complex, among other things, will allow us to increase the level of biosafety,” says Vasyl Starobor. “With its commissioning, sanitary gaps will be widened and the number of sanitary treatments will increase.”
The total amount of investments at the first stage will be UAH 15 million. Part of the equipment of the German company Big Dutchman has already been purchased, and the remaining part will be procured during the first quarter of 2022.
Vasyl Starobor also said that from the beginning of the second half of 2022 the reconstruction of the reproduction site will begin to be completed in the first half of next year. This will increase the number of sows by 30%, from 4.5 thousand to 6.5 thousand heads.

Farms within KSG Agro agricultural holding have started fertilizing winter crops with CAS (urea-ammonia mixture) and anhydrous ammonia. Fertilization of cereals is carried out on an area of 6.5 thousand hectares and sunflower on 8 thousand hectares.
“The process of fertilizing agricultural crops, which will last two weeks, will help increase their yields”, said KSG Agro Production Director Dmytro Yemelchenko. – Crops are monitored in parallel. It is important for us that 90% of them are reliably protected, being under a snow cover of 7-12 cm. Crops are in good condition, and their further condition is constantly monitored”.
